Keeping you posted about Blacksburg Bridal Expo 2010

With just little over 3 more months left of preparation for this exciting bridal expo coming to the town of Blacksburg, VA in August 28, 2010. Here are some updates on our planning & preparations...

**Final touches still ongoing for the event website, hoping to publish it out very soon by the first week of June, where Professional Vendors can make their booth reservation and also for our Brides-to-be can pre-register to this bridal event.

**After interviewing some engaged couples, we may possibly still have a Live Wedding for this event... very excited, more news about this later.

**Elegance By Marivic had a very productive discussion meeting this past week with our co-sponsor, the Hilton Garden Inn Blacksburg.

**Still awaiting for the final decision of another possible major sponsor coming from the home office of Aztec Rentals that will provide the outside tent, and other party needs for this event.

**More major preparations need to get done this coming week, things like Sponsorships for the Live Wedding, Decorations, Announcements, etc.

**Oh yes, can't forget the numerous hours of help coming from my Assistants... can't go without them, so thankful of course!!!

EleganceByMarivic is very excited with the progress of the Event planning for Blacksburg Bridal Expo coming up August 28, 2010. Just sent out today the private invitations to our 35 Brides-To-Be and 25 Professional Vendors. All invitations provided by SendOutCards, my online business relationships builder. The numbers are looking good for us. We hope to hear from them in the next few weeks. Public invitations, announcements, and other information will be out starting in June 2010. Blacksburg Bridal Expo

PLANNING for this exciting event is currently on full swing and getting busy with taking care of the many aspects involve. One major good news... yes, we got us a date set for Saturday, August 28, 2010 and will showcase professional vendors both indoor and outdoor booths. EleganceByMarivic is very excited to be working as the Event Consultant-Coordinator, along with Libby Mansfield, Sales Manager of Hilton Garden Inn Blacksburg. We are very honored and both are working so hard to bring together our area's finest group of wedding professionals, and our gorgeous Brides-To-Be at this bridal event right here in our beautiful town of Blacksburg. Direct Invitations to our professional preferred vendors were sent out last week, and responses are coming in. Aztec party rentals will be providing our outside tents and of course Hilton Garden Inn Blacksburg will be our Event Host and providing the Catering for us. Our Brides-To-Be will likewise be receiving a special invitations from us this week... Website, Announcements, DJ's Music, Food, Cakes, Flowers, Photographers, Videographers, Bridal Gowns, Make-up Artist, Hair Stylist, Skin Care Specialist, Limousines, and many, many more wedding professionals are looking forward to be a part of this bridal expo coming in August. Interview with Debrah Woods, Owner/Photographer of Inspiration & Design Photography

It was a great pleasure having to spent time getting to know this one super talented photographer from Roanoke, VA. Elegance By Marivic really enjoyed chatting with Debrah at her beautiful home and indeed very cozy studio, where she meets with Brides-To-Be and discuss their photo shoot plans. Debrah's professionalism, organization skills and creative photographic designs are so impressive that you don't want to missed out. Q: Could you tell us what's your style as a photographer?
A: My approach is very story-telling with "guided" photojournalism. My images are very romantic, but also very fun & playful. Since each bride is different, some wedding images may have a more sophisticated contemporary look, while others may have a more casual relaxed feel. When I'm photographing the different groups, I try to make it fun, offering suggestions, but letting them be who they are. It always results in fun, natural, relaxed, & real images. I want the day to unfold naturally and for the bridal couple to enjoy their day and not feel like pictures are a lot of "work". Brides often tell me they liked my website because my images didn't look posed & stiff. As an artist, I'm not locked into any "one style", and I'm always evolving. For me it's more about capturing the day in a way that is true to myself, while also being true to the bride & her vision as well. I also try to create images that are new and fresh at each wedding, rather than just doing the same thing because it works. I love the opportunity to take risks when I can, to get something really different. Okay, was that too much information? (laughs)

Q: What's your most favorite part of the wedding, that you really enjoy taking pictures?
A: I pretty much love the whole wedding day! Hmmm...I would have to say my absolute favorites are the detail shots! OMG, I love those! A close second place goes to taking pictures of the gorgeous bride and of course last but not least, the romantic portraits of the bride & groom together showcasing all the joy, romance, playfulness, intimacy, and deep love, that they feel for each other. It doesn't get better than that!

Q: Do you personally edit your bridal photos?
A: Absolutely! I'm a perfectionist and would have a hard time letting someone else have creative control over the final look of my images.

Q: How long normally will the bride and groom have their photos back?
A: My goal is to have a sneak peak of the wedding day on my blog a few days after the wedding. I usually have the wedding gallery edited and on-line with-in a week of the wedding. The delivery of the album varies, but the average is about 6 months after they have chosen their wedding images.

Q: Do you travel and how much will you charge to out of town weddings?
A: I try to stay with-in 2 hours of Roanoke, VA. On occasion I will travel further and I give custom quotes for each situation.

Q: How long have you been working as a professional photographer?
A: I went professional in 1987 part-time and transitioned to full time in 1993.

Spring is finally here, and it's our official kick-off of high peak wedding season. Summer is a very wonderful, exciting time to get married. If you love the outdoors, the warmth of the sun, the smell of fresh flowers, then Summer Wedding is for you! If you are having your wedding this Summer, here's an important checklist, to make sure that your event is an occasion to remember with style by your family and friends. This checklist will ensure that your planning is right on track, and if you are a summer bride, the following should have been done off your checklist by around this time.

*Choosing your Colors ~ summer colors should be fun, light, and vibrant. Highly recommended colors are: sky blue, sea green, sandy browns, and just about anything that you can think about summer or the beach. Whatever color of your choice, must be the one that you love, since it will need to be used all throughout the entire wedding.
*Choosing your Invitations ~ summer invitations must be given with great thought, since it will set the tone for your entire wedding, therefore using the color that match your wedding theme is a must. Highly recommended having a letterpress invitations. They are considered to be elegant, artistic and hand-crafted. Since they are eco-friendly, they use less ink, non toxins, and use much less paper in contrast to other forms of printing.
*Choosing the Bridal Party's Dresses ~ summer is obviously considered hot weather months, highly recommended that the bridal party dresses should be made of a light fabric, not too long or heavy material. Perfect season for a knee or calf length dresses. As a bride, you may even want to consider, the more acceptable practice or becoming to be a practical trend of allowing your bridesmaids to choose her own dress to suit her body type and preferences. That way she can wear the dress later to another occasion.
*Choosing your Location ~ summer locations are open for great options, not much to worry about the weather getting in the way. No matter if you want to get married in a church, or in a gazebo in the middle of the park, or on the beach. Be prepared of an option, in case of afternoon storms, as it's common during the summer season.
*Choosing your reception or food menu ~ summer menus are highly recommended keeping it light. Having to serve hors d'oeuvres is much easier to plan than the heavier meal. Although a full meal must be served for evening summer weddings. Keep it light by serving chicken or fish as main course, served with steamed vegetables and whole grain rice.
